Frequently Asked Questions

F.A.Q

1. How should I care for my Ovation guitar?

Like all fine instruments, Ovation guitars require periodic care and maintenance. Your instrument will perform best if it is kept clean. A routine cleaning of the instrument using a clean lint-free cloth and a light coat of quality guitar polish will keep your instrument looking and performing at its peak. Gold-plated parts should be wiped clean after each use to prevent discoloration from skin oils and acids.

Always store your instrument at room temperature, avoiding temperature and humidity extremes. The fine tone woods used in your guitar are significantly affected by these parameters. A neck warp or top crack can render any guitar unplayable. You may wish to use an affordable/small humidifier in your case to compensate for any changes in the environmental conditions.

Keep your instrument tuned to concert pitch under normal playing and storage situations. If the instrument is to be stored for a long period, reduce the string tension slightly; one or two turns of each tuning machine will be adequate.

2. How do I get parts for my Ovation Guitar?

Parts can be ordered through authorized Ovation dealers or right on our website. You can contact our Customer Service team (805.919.2400) for additional information or help with part IDs.

3. How can I determine my Ovation instruments production date?

You can visit Ovationtribute.com for a list of the serial numbers, and an explanation of how they are coded.

4. Can you help me determine the value of my Ovation guitars?

We cannot provide appraisals. Please seek independent appraiser (not an intermediary between a purchaser and seller) who specializes in fine instrument valuations.

5. How can I find an authorized Dealer near me?

All our US dealers can be found here: Ovation US Dealers

6. How Can I check on my order?

Please call or email Dan Diamond at dand@dwdrums.com or 805.485.6999 ext. 386.

7. How can I find additional Information about specific guitar models?

For active models refer to the website; for older models contact Customer Service.

8. Where can I find details about the Ovation Warranty and what it covers?

You can register for your instrument’s warranty here: Ovation Warranty Registration
For complete details of what the warranty covers: Ovation Warranty Information

9. Can I get my instrument repaired at the Ovation Workbench?

Yes we do all factory repairs in the Ovation Workbench. Please email us at info@ovationguitars.com to get a quote or setup a work order. After consulting, you will ship your guitar to the Ovation Workbench and we’ll further evaluate, to determine what might be covered by warranty and what will need to be covered by the customer. The Ovation Workbench will then contact the customer, discuss the repairs and the associated costs. Once approved, the Ovation Workbench will do the repairs and ship the guitar back to the customer. All shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer.

10. Can Ovation make custom guitars or build a new version of a discontinued model?

Yes, the Ovation Custom Shop is currently producing small runs of the hand-built, USA-made models that Ovation aficionados crave. If you have a model you’d like to have custom built, reach out to an Ovation Authorized dealer. They can provide additional details and help you place your order.
