Adamas

The World’s Most Advanced Acoustic Guitar

Experimental guitar virtuoso Kaki King collaborated with the Adamas R&D team to design this high-performance instrument. Representing the ultimate craftsmanship from Ovation’s flagship workshop in New Hartford, Connecticut, the Kaki King Signature features a black carbon-fiber suspended soundboard with Adamas fan bracing and bass-string soundholes, and a classic Mid-Depth cutaway composite body. The 5-piece mahogany/maple neck has a rosewood fretboard, and signature Kaki King appointments include white soundhole epaulets and a 12th-fret crown logo inlay. The Kaki King Signature sports Ovation’s High Output pickup and OP-Pro preamp, and Kaki personally signs the label on each of these stellar guitars.

Mid Depth Bowl

The Mid-Depth bowl blends elements of Ovation’s Super-Shallow and Deep Bowl designs. Acoustically, the Mid-Depth bowl delivers impressive projection and rich tone, yet even smaller guitarists find it comfortable to hold and play. It’s no surprise Ovation’s LX, AX, and TX models all feature a Mid-Depth body: Its proprietary Lyrachord construction and roundback design let it outperform typical “box” guitars. For decades, hardworking musicians have relied on Mid-Depth Ovation guitars to cut through the mix, whether played acoustically in a living room or run through a concert hall sound system.

OP-Pro

Designed in collaboration with jazz guitarist Al Di Meola and acoustic rocker Melissa Etheridge, the OP-Pro combines state-of-the-art audio quality with exclusive features designed to meet the needs of professional guitarists. The easy-to-operate unit offers 3-band EQ, a preset tone enhancement circuit, a battery status light, and a chromatic tuner. The OP-Pro will please even the most discriminating player.

The World’s Most Advanced Acoustic Guitar

Introduced in 1976, the Adamas was born of the same innovative spirit that developed the shape, design, and function of the Ovation roundback. Today, more than three decades after its introduction, the Adamas remains the most advanced acoustic guitar ever made.

Adamas is the Latin word for diamond in its native form—carbon. Kaman Aerospace used carbon fiber to make cutting-edge components for satellites and supersonic aircrafts. Realizing that carbon fiber had the potential to create a pure and balanced soundboard for his guitars, Charlie Kaman and his engineers began lab trials to create a carbon-fiber top for the Ovation. They discovered that when properly engineered, carbon fiber—or graphite—behaves very much like wood.

The Adamas soundboard is made from long fibers of aerospace-grade graphite designed to resonate and respond like spruce. At one-third the weight of a spruce top, the Adamas soundboard has a bold and clear voice, quicker response, and vibrates longer than a traditional spruce top. Adamas models feature Ovation’s pioneering Mid-Depth or Deep Bowl composite bodies.

More than 30 years since the first Adamas prototypes were introduced to the world and stage, Ovation engineers continue their R&D on this groundbreaking instrument and Charlie’s visionary concept. With its space-age materials and meticulous construction, the Adamas represents the perfect blend of art and science.
