Ovation presents the first mandolin designed from the ground up as an acoustic/electric instrument. Handcrafted in Ovation’s flagship workshop in New Hartford, Connecticut, the Ovation Mandolin features a hand-selected solid-spruce top with lightweight, Mando-Quintad bracing designed to enhance punch and projection. Ovation’s pioneering multi-soundhole design enhances string vibration and sustain by improving soundboard efficiency. With its roundback composite body, the Ovation Mandolin offers more acoustic volume and cutting power than expensive flatback models. The instrument’s upper-bout soundholes are inlaid with exotic hardwoods, and a cutaway offers full access to the sleek, gloss-finished 5-piece mahogany/maple neck and ebony fretboard. A custom high-output pickup and special version of the OP-24+ preamp give the Ovation Mandolin unparalleled amplified tone.
OP-24
Offering whisper-quiet audio circuitry with very low distortion, the OP-24+ features 3-band EQ with a bypass switch, a Mid-Shift control for selecting a midrange center frequency of either 400 Hz or 1 kHz, a Pre-Shape circuit for boosting bass and treble response while cutting rumble-prone frequencies below 40 Hz, and a battery status light. To provide complete control over the high-output preamp signal, the OP-24+ has a custom-taper volume slider.
