About Dustin Thomas

Hey there. My name is Dustin. I'm in a band called Dustin Thomas out of Minneapolis, Minnesota. I play a red and black Ovation Celebrity called "Forgiveness." I've been playing music since I can remember. First drumming on empty boxes and those big tins that have the different flavors of popcorn in them, then on to singing in the shower, on the swing set, and pretty much anywhere else I could get away with belting out my versions of 90's radio favorites. When I was 16 my Mother brought me to a guitar store and I walked out an hour later with my first guitar. I guess that was the next step. Eventually I met Tim (Bass) in high school. Then Andrew (Drums) came along and before you knew it we were playing every weekend. From the first time I held "Forgiveness" I've taken it everywhere with me. From the shores of Florida, the mountains of Colorado, the streets of New York City, the brilliance of New Orleans, the swell and charm of Hawaii, and the warm southern love of Texas. Music to me is a beautiful canvas to share art across all boundaries. As a band we play for children in inter-city schools to encourage less fortunate youth to embrace music as an outlet. Every winter we organize a benefit concert to give children in Women's Shelters Christmas presents. Music is our passion and has been an incredible part of our collective journey. Given the honor of Hometown Hero all proceeds from our first show with the new guitar would go to local Minneapolis charities.
